August, 2008

Alex's third month was lots of fun. He is still a very happy baby. This month Aidan added to his repertoire of nicknames for Alex, including "Sweetie Pea" and "Smile Jack." They definitely fit! It seems like Alex learns something new every day, whether it be grasping onto toys, following objects with his eyes, cooing and laughing out loud, or holding himself up on his tummy for longer stretches of time. It has been so much fun watching him change and grow. He is still an excellent sleeper and sleeps through most nights, which makes all of us very happy!

Aidan continues to be an independent toddler. He loves doing puzzles, singing songs, watering the "growing" outside, and building towers with legos. Aidan has mastered his colors and can count to thirteen, although he hasn't yet figured out that he's supposed to assign one number to one object. He knows about half of the letters by sight and can identify Europe, Asia, and sometimes Africa on a map, which Nickie is very proud of. One of the biggest changes of the summer is that we can now have conversations with Aidan and even sometimes reason with him. Our baby is growing up...

This month we enjoyed a few days at Cragun's Resort in Brainard, Minnesota with the Lenius family. Aidan liked spending so much time with Grandma and Grandpa and his cousins. Alex liked pretending to be twins with his cousin James, who is 11 weeks older than him. Here are some pictures from our trip.
