January, 2009

January was a month of many milestones in Alex's life. He learned how to feed himself (mostly cheerios, puffs, and bananas) and now generally enjoys eating. In fact, he often acts as though he can't get enough! Although he can move himself around on the floor (most often backwards or in circles), Alex much prefers to be in the standing position and spent much of the month pulling himself up on anything within his reach. He even ventured a few steps late in the month (while holding onto something, of course!) and we are excited that his ability to "creep" seems to developing quite nicely. Alex can stand for a couple of seconds at a time, until he realizes what he's doing and promptly sits down. Alex is also getting more vocal, both when he's happy and when he's not! We celebrated Alex's baptism this month and were blessed to be able to share his special day with family.

Aidan is now "nap potty-trained" and is very proud of wearing underwear and keeping it dry during his nap. His ability to communicate continues to amaze us, and he has quite the sense of humor. Aidan loves singing and making up songs, and he still loves to build towers with his legos and cook in his kitchen. Aidan got a "laptop" for Christmas and enjoys playing letter games on it. Lately, a favorite activity of Aidan's has been cuddling on the couch while watching Dora. Mommy and Daddy love this activity too!
